Aleta S's Story
My hero was my father...he still is.He was the example of a daddy you would always want your father to be. He was patient and kind and loving and listened to everything you had to say.
Since High School, I went to West Hills for a yr, then got married to a Navy man from NAS Lemoore. We have been married 35 yrs this past Aug.9. We have 3 wonderful children. Actually they are no longer children. Our son, Russ is 34 and lives in Utah. Our oldest daughter Dodi is 32 lives with us. She is disabled. Our youngest Debi is 28 and married with the cutest little babies ever. I have the cutest grandbabies ever and proud of it.
We have lived in NAS Lemoore, China Lake, and after Richard retired we moved to Utah for 16 yrs. I have worked in schools in CA. and Utah as well as now in CO and NM. We moved away from Utah, because my husband has a serious heart condition. He is no longer able to work. I still draw and paint and do tons of crafty projects. have been able to do several jobs in my work because of my art talents. I have held several positions in the military wives clubs, PTA and church positions. I feel I have done well in my life and would go thru the challenges again.
7 months ago we lost my husband and my children's father to cancer. It has Been rough going for all of us, but we are survivors and will get through. I am most grateful for family and friends who have continually communicated with me through this whole trying time in our lives.
I am now back in Utah, near my son and his family and near my oldest daughter. It will be 2 yrs since my husbands passing, which seems just like yesterday. I am doing well and love being with my friends and family. Since this writing, I have found love again and remarried a wonderful man our family knew while stationed in China Lake, CA. We were all family friends. He lost his wife and we happened to find one another at a dance for singles. My new last name is Mattinson
